Hilton Worldwide has signed a new deal to bring its DoubleTree brand to Australia.
The agreement, penned with Ramtron Australia Pty Ltd, will see the DoubleTree by Hilton Karratha open in Western Australia in 2014The 164-room hotel will be located in the commercial centre of Karratha – a major mining hub in the Pilbara region, 1,500km north of Perth.
“Hilton Worldwide has had a strong presence in Australia for over 40 years with the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand, and we have been committed to expanding our brand portfolio in the region for some time. The DoubleTree by Hilton Karratha will be our 16th property in Australasia and the first DoubleTree by Hilton in the region, joining the Parmelia Hilton Perth as the second Hilton Worldwide property in Western Australia,” said Robert Scullin, Hilton’s vice president for development in Australasia.
“The hotel is strategically located to support the ever growing demand from the resources sector and we are confident the DoubleTree by Hilton, Karratha, with the support of the developers Ramtron Australia Pty Ltd, will be the leading full-service hotel in the market,” he added.

The eight-storey DoubleTree by Hilton Karratha will feature 144 rooms and 20 apartments, while facilities will include an restaurant and bar, fitness centre, outdoor pool, three function rooms and car parking facilities.
Hilton Worldwide currently manages and franchises 15 properties in Australasia including the Parmelia Hilton Perth in Western Australia.
