HKIA sees strong first half growth

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) reported sustained growth in terms of passenger and flight movements in the first half of 2013.
During the first six months of the year, passenger traffic increased 4.7% to 28.9 million, while flight movements climbed 5.1% to 180,650. The first half of 2013 also saw the airport achieve new records in terms of daily passenger numbers and both daily and monthly aircraft movements.
Meanwhile, cross-border ferry traffic between HKIA and eight ports in the Pearl River Delta, including Macau, climbed 5.8% to 1.3m passengers in the six-month period.
“HKIA’s continuous growth over the past 15 years is a testament to the vision and determination of our people,” said Stanley Hui Hon-chung, CEO of Airport Authority Hong Kong. “Looking ahead, we will continue to work closely with the airport community with a view to achieving the next level of excellence and contributing to the city’s sustainable development.” he added.
In the 12 months to June 2013, passenger traffic at HKIA climbed 3.7% to 57.8m while flight movements increased 5.0% to 360,425.
