Hong Kong Airlines continues to expand its presence in Japan with the launch of extra flights to two major cities – Osaka and Sapporo.

On 15 September, the airline will double the frequency of its Hong Kong-Osaka route to two daily flights, with the addition of a new evening departure. The second daily service will take off from HKIA at 1710, and the return flight will leave Kansai International Airport at 2255.

And then on 30 October, Hong Kong Airlines will add two more weekly flights to its Hong Kong-Sapporo route, taking the total frequency to daily. The new outbound service will depart HKIA at 0750 every Monday and Thursday, and the return flight will leave Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport on the same days at 1610.

“The Japan destinations have been quite popular among Hong Kong Airlines’ passengers. Satisfying response has been received since the commencement of flight service to Sapporo and Osaka in December 2014 and July 2016 respectively, in view of which we have been proactively exploring to add frequency to these routes so as to meet the travel demand of our passengers,” said Li Dianchun, chief commercial officer of Hong Kong Airlines.

Hong Kong Airlines currently operates 49 weekly flights between Hong Kong and Japan, including two daily flights to Okinawa and Tokyo, daily flights to Osaka, five weekly services to Sapporo and Kagoshima, and twice-weekly flights to Miyazaki and Okayama.

But this will increase to 60 weekly flights by the end of October, including the additional services to Osaka and Sapporo and a brand new route to Yonago, which will operate twice a week from 14 September.
