Hospitality contributes 7.1% of Dubai’s GDP: Manchanda

The on-going Hotel Show had Nakheel highlight the importance of the hospitality industry in Dubai.
Sanjay Manchanda, CEO of Nakheel focussed on Dubai’s growing, diversifying hospitality scene in his keynote speech.
He said: “Hospitality is an industry that cannot be ignored, contributing to 7.1% of Dubai’s GDP and with 96,000 rooms forecast to be in the market by 2018. Guest numbers have also increased by 42% over the last five years.”
He further continued: “Dubai now contains eight percent of the world’s hi-rise buildings. We are uniquely positioned to bring a range of unique, innovative new concepts that will further enhance Dubai’s hospitality offering.”
Nakheel has 10 hotels planned for Dubai over the next five years. The company is also plans to roll out a wide range of new retail projects for new food and beverage concepts.
The event will attract over 18,000 attendees across three days. Some of Nakheel’s developments include Pointe at Palm Jumeirah. Currently under construction, the development is set to bring to Palm Jumeirah fountain shows, promenade, and a variety of waterfront spots for dining, shopping and socialising.
