Hyatt has unveiled a new upscale resort on Chongming Island, near Shanghai.
The new Hyatt Regency Chongming becomes the first internationally-branded property on the island, which is located in the Yangtze River Delta and linked to the mainland by a tunnel and bridge.
“Hyatt has already established a strong brand presence with four hotels in Shanghai, and we are excited to further expand our brand presence in this important market with the introduction of the Hyatt Regency brand,” said Christopher Koehler, Hyatt’s vice president of operations for China.
“Hyatt Regency Chongming demonstrates our commitment to thoughtful and harmonious growth in China by bringing convenience and hospitality to a previously untapped nature-based lifestyle destination.”
Positioned next to the Dongtan Wetlands Park, the Hyatt Regency’s five buildings are connected by Chinese-style covered walkway and surrounded by extensive gardens and streams. Facilities include five restaurant and tea lounges, plus extensive meeting space.
Hyatt says the resort is “ideal for couples, families or conference groups”.
