India’s Ministry of Tourism has launched a new mobile travel planning app.
The Android version of the official Incredible India trip planning app, Tripigator, was released this week. The app allows visitors to create itineraries tailored to their individual preferences, with tools including built-in maps and geo-location.
Based on the ministry’s tripigator.com website, the app requires users in input a series of basic search criteria, such as dates, budget, areas of interest and destinations of choice.
The in-built technology then aggregates the information from a range of online sources to create a series of personal travel itinerary options with live pricing. Users can also then connect with their social media accounts and share the itineraries with their travel companions.
During the launch Parvez Dewan, secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, said the app be useful for both domestic and international tourists “travelling to and within India”. “The price sensitivity feature offered in the software will help people to plan holidays as per their budget,” he added.
Launched in May as part of the Incredible India campaign, tripigator.com has so far been accessed by users from more than 40 countries.
