The Indian government has ratified a tourism agreement with South Africa.
The bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and South Africa was signed recently and will see the two countries cooperate in a series of areas.
These include the exchange of tourism-related information and data, encouraging cooperation between tourism stakeholders, including hotels and tour operators, the establishment of exchange programmes for tourism workers, fam trips, and participation in tourism trade shows and events.
The MoU also paves the way for both Indian and South African companies to make investments in the two countries’ tourism and hospitality sectors.
India received approximately 52,000 visitors from South Africa in 2015 and the country now forms part of India’s e-tourist visa system.
