Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation (ICHHTO) has lifted the ban on travel to Turkey.

ICHHTO had banned Iranian tour operators from taking tourists to Turkey following the unrest in the country due to the abortive coup attempt.

But a statement released on Sunday said the ban had been lifted due to the restoration of security in Turkey and following Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to Ankara during which Turkish officials called for resuming Iranian tours to Turkey.

The Turkish officials made assurances that they will compensate for damages to Iranian tour operators during unrests in Turkey.
