Japan Airlines will launch in-flight Wi-Fi on its domestic routes next month.
To be rolled out from 23 July 2014, the new service will initially be made available on services from Tokyo Haneda Airport to and Osaka Itami, Fukuoka and Hakodate, followed by Haneda-Sapporo in August.
JAL will then progressively expand its Wi-Fi services to 77 domestic aircraft, including its entire fleet of Boeing 777, 767s and 737s aircraft, with the full roll-out expected to be completed by 2016.
Supplied by US-based Gogo, in-flight Wi-Fi will be a paid service with packages ranging from JPY500 to JPY1,200 (approx. US$4.90 to US$11.80) depending on the length of flight and the type of device.
