Holiday bookings to Jamaica have seen a “considerable increase” since the Olympics, its tourist board has said.
After speaking to UK tour operators the tourist board said hosting Jamaica House at the O2 had contributed towards the increase, while Usain Bolt’s victories are sure to have done the destination some favours too.
“We are thrilled to hear that bookings have been impressive, showcasing significant upswings in all areas. The increase in airlift by both TUI and Virgin Holidays has meant that the build-up in demand created over the Olympic period has been converted into actual bookings,” said John Lynch, director of tourism at the Jamaica Tourist Board.
The announcement comes as the industry gears up for the 22nd Jamaica Product Exchange (JAPEX) from this Sunday (30 September), which will include networking, events, fams and activities for suppliers to meet with tour operators and travel agents.
