Continuing its focus on attracting foreign tourists to the state, Maharashtra Tourism and Wakayama Prefecture of Japan
has signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Mumbai on 9 October.
Wakayama Prefecture is a province of Japan located on the Kii Peninsula in the Kansai region on Honshu Island. The MoU will create cooperation between both states for expansion of tourism ties and also enhance economic growth and job opportunities. Both the regions have also agreed to promote agro and food processing between local enterprises through existing framework.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Governor of Yoshinobu Nisaka, Governor of Wakayama in Japan along with Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister of Tourism for Maharashtra
