Singapore (8 March 2010) - Marina Bay Sands’ Team Members have started to move into their new home at Bayfront Avenue, as they prepare for the final sprint to the Preview Opening of the resort on April 27.
The first team moved in just after 9 a.m. this morning, an auspicious timing according to the Marina Bay Sands feng shui consultant Master Louisa Ong-Lee. Teams from Food & Beverage, Hotel Housekeeping, Facilities and IT were the first to move into the Heart-of-House (HOH), a mammoth logistics endeavor that took three months to organize. Thousands of Team Members will move into the property by the end of April.
“This move is more than a physical shift. Our team will bring Marina Bay Sands to life over the next few weeks as we prepare to welcome the world to Asia’s most magnificent destination,” said Marina Bay Sands CEO and President Thomas Arasi.
The kitchens at Marina Bay Sands will start cooking their first meals. Hot cooked lunches will be served to Team Members working in the HOH located below the hotel towers, delivering an international and local spread. The Team Member dining room, which has a Halal section, can seat up to 700 people and will have flat screen televisions and internet stations.
This facility, coupled with another Team Member dining room, will operate around the clock to deliver 7,000 meals daily to feed the thousands of employees working in the property once it opens. In a year, that’s about 2.5 million meals for the staff alone.
