Marriott International has opened its first midscale Fairfield hotel in Indonesia.
The new Fairfield by Marriott Surabaya is located in a new development area in the west of the city, close to Surabaya’s outlying industrial estates. This ties in with the brand’s focus on serving business travellers.
“The mid-tier segment is very important for Marriott’s development in the market of Indonesia as we are seeing significant demand,” said Robert Stark, Marriott’s area vice president for Indonesia & the Philippines. “The opening of this property in Surabaya is a great starting point for us, and we will continue to strengthen our offerings for this particular sector in this dynamic market.”
The new hotel offers 270 rooms and suites, a restaurant, bar and mini-market. There is also a spa, fitness centre and an outdoor rooftop pool, plus more than 1,100m² of function space.
Popular in the US, Fairfield is now expanding across Asia. The brand is now present in India and Indonesia, with new properties due to open in Nepal and China in 2017. Indonesia will also get a second Fairfield next year with the launch of the Fairfield by Marriott Bali Legian.
