Middle East in the spotlight at Medical Tourism Congress

The increasing opportunities for inbound and outbound medical tourism in the Middle East is a topic that will be addressed at the world’s largest healthcare congress, set to be staged in California from 22 to 24 September. Regional governmental authorities and private healthcare organisations will be participating at the World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress, which will discuss the international importance of the Middle East and Gulf States in the global healthcare sector.”Medical tourism is a growing trend across the world and this phenomenon is encouraging healthcare bodies to develop a highly standardised regulation system to improve and maintain the quality of health and healthcare,” said Laila Al Jassmi, CEO, Health Policy and Strategy Sector at Dubai Health Authority, which is participating at the congress. “Gulf States such as the UAE have highly advanced healthcare services and provide a great strategic location to help facilitate healthcare travel – these are just two of the reasons why Dubai is playing an increasingly important role in medical tourism,” she added.Regional representatives from Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, and Lebanon will attend the event, according to organisers. The gathering is the largest in the annual healthcare travel calendar and aims to bring together government officials and private healthcare providers to help develop strategies that will facilitate both inbound and outbound medical tourism.
