The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) along with Philips will light up the Gateway of
India on 24 January 2014.
The façade and mast of the monument will be able to change lighting scenes with technologically-advanced LED lighting system.
Commenting on the initiative, Dr Jagdish Patil, managing director of MTDC said, “For tourists as well as Mumbaikars, the Gateway of India, has been a favourite place to hang around and spend time in leisure. Besides, the monument is one of the most important photographic icons of Mumbai. It is a delight to see a company like Philips taking the initiative of transforming the night time view of Gateway of India with lights. With a successful record of lighting up historical monuments in India, we are sure that this project will yet again bring alive and transform Mumbai’s most admired monument through various possibilities of lightning.”
