Mumbai Airport has teamed up with Vistara to trial mobile boarding passes.
Vistara passengers can now receive their boarding pass straight to their mobile device when checking in online. Once the passenger reaches the airport, they can bypass the check-in desk and proceed straight to the gate, where their mobile boarding pass will be scanned. Passengers with bags to check in will be able use a baggage drop facility.
“We are living in an ecosystem where mobile devices form the core of consumer convenience. Technology-enabled innovation has become the trigger for differentiation and assumes high significance from a consumer-expectation perspective,” a spokesperson for Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) said.
The Mumbai trial with Vistara is available for domestic flights at the airport’s Terminal 2.
This follows an earlier mobile boarding pass trial involving Jet Airways at Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports, which commenced in February this year.
