The airport serving the Vietnamese resort town of Nha Trang will be expanded with the development of a new international terminal.
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reports that officials from Khanh Hoa province and Vietnam Airlines met last week to outline the development plans for Cam Ranh International Airport.
According to a preliminary draft report for the project, the new terminal will cover 15,000m² and will be used exclusively for international flights, while the existing terminal will be used for domestic operations.
The project is expected to cost more than VND1 trillion (US$47 million), with the new terminal scheduled to open in 2018.
In 2014, the airport welcomed more than two million passengers, exceeding its intended capacity of 1.5m. And traffic is expected to increase to four million passengers by 2020.
