New Zealand Prime Minister John Key is backing PATA’s bid to strengthen South Pacific tourism. Welcoming NZ-born PATA Chief Executive Officer Greg Duffell to Wellington Mr Key, who holds the Tourism portfolio, expressed strong support for the PATA-led Tourism Investment for the Development of Enterprise and Sustainability event in Samoa (Feb 18-19).
The Prime Minister also acknowledged PATA’s long record of service in New Zealand and its contribution to tourism in NZ and across the region. Mr Key said that while his country is doing well with visitor arrivals from Australia there is a need to develop stronger tourism ties with Asian source markets – in particular China and India.
