Oman Air will start flying non-stop to mainland China for the first time next month, with the launch a new route to Guangzhou.
First unveiled in 2014, the new service will become the first direct air link between Oman and China, which the airline says will “help to strengthen political, economic and social links” between the two countries. The route will be launched with four weekly flights using a twin-aisle Airbus A330 aircraft.
“It is always exciting to open a new destination and Guangzhou is a perfect choice to Oman Air’s network,” said Paul Gregorowitsch, CEO of Oman Air. “Guangzhou, the 54th destination on the WY network, will be an added value meeting the demand of the traders and businessmen of the two countries, as well as to tradesmen from different neighbouring countries.
“The operation will initially offer four flights per week, and we are confident that this service will be a great success. We look forward to a long and prosperous presence within the Chinese market,” he added.
Outbound flights will depart Muscat International Airport every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1015 and arrive at Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport at 2100. The return services will leave the Chinese city every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 0625 and land back in Muscat at 1100.
