Philippine Airlines (PAL) has said that its services are operating as usual despite the latest strike threat from the PAL Employees Association (PALEA). In a statement, the national carrier said flights will continue to be operated according to published schedules while all ticket offices and other facilities will remain open. PALEA issued the strike threat in its continued dispute with the airline over the proposed sale of three subsidiary units – its call centre, catering and airport services divisions. PAL says that the sell-offs, which will affect approximately 2,600 employees, are necessary for the airline’s future survival.
