Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected a new series of new business intelligence tools to help manage its expansion.
The national carrier, which recently announced its intention to resume flights to Europe, has decided to roll out solutions from the Amadeus Travel Intelligence Portfolio, in an effort to better analyse its business performance, revenue and identify possible areas of expansion.
“We are committed to retaining our position at the forefront of the industry in the Asian region and key to it is fleet modernization, network expansion and service innovation programme,” said PAL’s president & chief operating officer, Ramon Ang.
“It is important for us to be able to base our network planning and marketing decisions on complete and reliable data that Amadeus solutions offer,” he added.
The airline has selected the Amadeus Market Information (MIDT) and Amadeus Air Traffic solutions, which work in tandem to monitor global market conditions. In parallel, Amadeus Air Traffic will estimate air passenger volume for any origin and destination worldwide, mining data from sources including online sales, airport data and global distribution systems. This is intended to enable PAL to evaluate current and possible new routes, plus the best connections for long-haul flights.
Amadeus will also provide PAL staff with training on the new solutions.
“Travel Intelligence is a critical asset in a fast-moving, fragmented industry like travel. However, it is not only about having data, it’s also about having the industry knowledge and analytical capability to turn it into valuable business insights. Amadeus has all three which puts us in a unique position in the industry to help our airline customers understand their business as well as the challenges and opportunities in the market,” said Hazem Hussein, head of airline commercial for Amadeus Asia Pacific.
