Philippine Department of Tourism (DoT) Secretary Alberto Lim (pictured right) has resigned from his position. The announcement came on Friday, a day after Lim addressed international delegates at the MICE Congress in Cebu. Stakeholders are now waiting to see who President Benigno S. Aquino III will name as his replacement, hoping for a candidate with experience and knowledge of the industry. Lim’s resignation has been met with approval from many who saw the official as an obstacle to development. Following the announcement Consul Robert Joseph, Founding Chair of Tourism Educators and Movers Philippines, told the Manila Bulleting Publishing Corporation; “Definitely, something will now happen in the industry.”
