The Phuket Seafood Fiesta got underway yesterday. Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the month-long event will showcase a range of Thai, Asian and global cuisines. Throughout the month more than 100 food shops and restaurants in Phuket are offering special discounts of 10-20% for seafood dishes under the “Good Taste Best Price” campaign. There will also be promotional and activities events with live music and international cuisine from 12-13 August on Rawai Beach, and again from 25-26 August at Chalerm Prakiat Park and Phuket Town. Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Suraphon Svetasreni said; “The festival aims to create awareness of its outstanding seafood as a unique selling point and generate additional business for the main island as well as the many surrounding islands and resorts.” Food is an indispensable part of the travel and tourism experience, which is why TAT prioritises promoting Thai cuisine at home and abroad.
