A man got a nasty surprise during a commercial flight in the USA when he was stung by a scorpion. Jeff Ellis told KPTV he was trying to sleep on an Alaska Airlines night flight from Seattle to Anchorage on 17 June when he felt something in his sleeve and tried to brush it away.
“I picked my hand up and said, ‘Oh my god, that’s a scorpion!'”
He then grabbed the scorpion with a napkin, but not before it stung him on the elbow. Ellis was checked by onboard doctors and medics on the ground, but did not suffer serious injuries. Officials believe the scorpion entered the plane in Texas, where the flight originated. The airline has offered him 4,000 frequent flyer miles and two free flights as compensation.
