One of Ukraine’s airports was forced to stop operating flights on Friday (28 February) as protesters stormed into the buildings.
Sevastopol (Belbek) airport was blocked by the military on Friday causing flights to stop operating, while armed men seized Simferopol airport.
The former is still not operating flights, while the latter reopened yesterday although people have been advised not to use the airport until the situation is more stable.
The FCO has now advised against all travel to Crimea as demonstrations in the area intensify. It asked British people to leave the area and said it is now not able to provide consular services to anyone choosing to remain in the area.
