Qantas boosts east-west Australia routes

Qantas has introduced an internationally configured Boeing 747 operating on flights between Sydney and Perth, and has also increased the number of internationally configured Airbus A330 aircraft on the route. In July, the Brisbane to Perth daily flight will upgraded from their B767 to an A330 Furthermore, as of mid-April four new services will also be added to the Melbourne to Perth route, using the international A330 aircraft. The moves are in response to customers voicing their preference for widebodied aircraft. With these recent changes, now over 90% of Qanatas servicesfrom Australia’s east coast to Perth will use the more popular wide-bodied planes. The new routes and upgrades will allow the benfits of international products such as the business class Qantas Skybed andon-demand entertainment in every seat. Qantas Chief Executive, Alan Joyce said that Qantas were responding to their customers. “Qantas is committed to ensuring it is the best for business and we are very pleased to be delivering on our customers desires for an even more comfortable journey between the east and west coasts,” he said. “Qantas will be the only airline to provide a lie-flat sleeping option by deploying the Skybed product onselected east-west services, which is especially important for business travellers who need to hit the groundrunning when they arrive at their destination.”Joyce added; “With in-flight service offering Neil Perry influenced menus, our expansive network oflounges, the launch of the enhanced ground and inflight domestic experience in late 2010, faster, smartercheck-in, the comprehensive and expanding Frequent Flyer program, and vast domestic and internationalconnecting network, we are focussed on ensuring Qantas remains firmly at the forefront in terms of productand service.”The new east-west routes will feature:
