Qantas has launched a retail store at Sydney airport selling its new Q Bag Tags. The temporary store, which is located in the Sydney Qantas Club at the airport’s Terminal 3, will be in place until August, before moving to Melbourne for September and October and then to Brisbane in November and December.
The Q Bag Tag has been designed to speed up the bag drop service of Qantas’ new automated check-in system. Containing RFID technology, the tag is electronically imprinted with the information of the passenger and their flight details, replacing the need for paper tags. They retail at AU$49.95 (US$53) each.
Q Bag Tags are available to all Qantas passengers and can be used throughout the Qantas domestic network. The tags are also being made available for sale online at qantas.com or through airport vending kiosks in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. They will also go on sale at Qantas Meetings Rooms across Australia in coming months.
