Qingdao Airlines has taken delivery of its first ever aircraft.
The Chinese start-up airline welcomed the new Airbus A320 aircraft this week, as part of a leasing arrangement with Hong Kong-based China Aircraft Leasing Company (CALC).
The new single-aisle jet will now be used to launch Qingdao Airlines’ first ever commercial flight from its home base of Qingdao, in northeast China’s Shandong province, to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in southwest China.
The new A320 comes equipped with 152 seats in two classes – eight in business class and 144 in economy.
“We are very happy to receive our company’s ever first aircraft,” said Song Zuowen, chairman of Qingdao Airlines. “We are looking forward to starting operation with this brand new Airbus A320 to offer our passengers a new option for air travel in the fast growing Chinese market.”
Qingdao Airlines, which is part-owned by Air China, placed an order for 23 A320 aircraft in 2013. It initially plans to operate domestic routes from Qingdao’s Liuting International Airport.
