The first phase of a project to restore Hanoi’s Quan Chuong Gate has been completed. The Vietnam National Administration for Tourism (VNAT) reported that the landmark, in the Vietnamese capital’s Old Quarter, is the only one of 16 original city gates that remains standing. It was originally built in 1749. The restoration work was funded by the US Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation.
