The Radisson Plaza Hotel Sydney was renamed on 1 May, becoming the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney. The change is in part of a move by Carlson to align its global Radisson products into two tiers, with Radisson Blu properties offering a high-end product that focuses on design and style.
The Sydney property becomes Asia Pacific’s second Radisson Blu, following the opening of Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, Philippines, in September 2010.
“We are delighted to be the first hotel in the Australia/Pacific region to transition,” said General Manager, Peter Tudehope. “This is an exciting time for the brand. Unifying the brand strengthens our position on a global scale and heralds the way for the continued growth of the portfolio. Here at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney we remain committed to being one of the most desirable five-star hotels in the city.”
As part of the transition, the hotel’s logo, signage, brochures and all other branding will change, while a new website – www.radissonblu.com/plazahotel-sydney – will be launched.
