Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) expects to report an average hotel occupancy rate of well above 90 percent for last week’s Eid Al Adha holiday, with many of the emirate’s hotels completely full during the festival.
While the UAE continues to be the biggest source market for visitors to Ras Al Khaimah’s hotels during Eid Al Adha, the second largest source market is currently Germany, followed by the UK, Russia and Scandinavia, said the authority.
RAKTDA recently announced that so far in 2016, the average occupancy rate of its hotel portfolio was amongst the highest in the GCC region at 70 percent from January to July. Furthermore, the total number of tourists visiting Ras Al Khaimah is increasing by more than 7 percent year-on-year.
Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said: “Our hotel partners continue to report a notable difference in 2016 performance versus last year in terms of increased occupancy levels throughout the year, both in peak times and traditionally low seasons. This is the result of a deliberate strategy we have undertaken to diversify our source markets, promote our new brand assets, and increase our distribution reach through strategic international tourism partnerships.”
