Rosewood Hotel Group has unveiled plans to launch a new landmark luxury property in its home market of Hong Kong.
The new Rosewood Hong Kong is scheduled to open in 2018 in a prime waterfront location on the Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui. Rosewood Hong Kong will occupy 27 floors of a mixed-use tower owned by New World Development, and Rosewood said that the new hotel will become an “instantly recognisable landmark” on the Hong Kong skyline.
“As one of the world’s great cities, with iconic character and landscape, Hong Kong is a superlative location to open a Rosewood hotel,” said Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “We aim for this hotel to capture Hong Kong’s grace and dynamism, culture and modernity, while debuting Rosewood’s engaging, intuitive and refined service here in our home city.”
Designed by New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, the 398-room Rosewood Hong Kong will feature eight F&B outlets, a fitness centre, swimming pool, executive lounge and ‘The Pavilion’, Rosewood’s residential-style event concept.
It will also feature 199 Rosewood Residences on the top 19 floors of the tower, some of which will feature outdoor terraces. This section of the building will also offer a dedicated lounge and swimming pool.
Hong Kong-based New World acquired US-based Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in 2011. Since then it has embarked on a major Asian expansion of the luxury brand, with the opening of the Rosewood Beijing and the signing of new properties in Phnom Penh, Phuket, Guangzhou, Luang Prabang, Sanya, Bali, Jakarta, Hainan, Bangkok, Siem Reap, and now Hong Kong.
Rosewood Hong Kong will join the company’s existing co-branded hotel in the city, New World Millennium Hong Kong, as well as two Pentahotels.
