The National Park Service and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy are collaborating to ensure that all Pow Wow delegates have access to experience the city’s key attractions. Alcatraz will be opened for a “Rock the Night” event, while the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park will be taking participants for a special bay cruise in the historic 1891 sailing ship, the Alma. Senior management of Golden Gate National Recreation Area will also meet Pow Wow participants and offer a walking tour of the Crissy Field Center and Crissy Field.
“Being part of Pow Wow is a unique opportunity for the National Park Service and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to help our international guests experience San Francisco’s natural wonders,” said Frank Dean, General superintendent of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
“The support of people from City Hall to the city streets has been wonderful,” said Joe D’Alessandro, President & CEO of the San Francisco Travel Association. “It truly takes a village – or in our case, a city – to host an event of this magnitude. In the end, we will all benefit.”
More than 1,100 international and domestic tour operators from 70 countries are expected a Pow Wow – North America’s largest travel trade event. They will attend 70,000 pre-set appointments with some 3,500 exhibitors. More than 450 international and domestic travel journalists will also attend.
