Scoot today launched flights from Singapore to Tokyo, via Taipei.
The new service, which becomes the first low-cost link between Singapore and Tokyo, departs Changi airport’s Terminal 2 at 0055 and arrives at Taipei’s Taoyuan airport at 0540. The flight then departs Taipei at 0650 and gets into Tokyo’s Narita airport at 1040.
On the return leg, flights leave Narita at 1150 and after transiting Taipei, arrives back in Singapore at 2010. All flights will be operated using Scoot’s two-class, 402-seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
“Today’s inauguration of daily flights between Singapore and Tokyo, via Taipei, is a huge occasion for Scoot and for the travelling public. For the first time, there’s now a low-cost travel option between Singapore and Tokyo, and between Tokyo and Taipei,” said Campbell Wilson, Scoot’s CEO.
To mark the launch, Wilson and two other Scoot executives – Chief Pilot & Head of Flight Operations Captain Rohan Hari Chandra and First Officer Yusuke Uehara – dressed up in sumo wrestler suits and visited several Tokyo landmarks, including the Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Ginza and Tokyo Tower, accompanied by two of the airline’s new Japanese flight attendants, Ikuko Miura and Ayu Kamakura.
Scoot now operates flights from Singapore to Sydney, Gold Coast, Bangkok, Tianjin, Taipei and Tokyo, with services to Shenyang and Qingdao commencing in November.
