Lightweight sightseeing buses in the centre of Shanghai will be removed after they were found to emit twice the legal emissions limit. The Shanghai Daily reported that the vehicles, which transport tourists along the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall, will now be replaced by environmentally-friendly electric buses. The eight sightseeing buses, which are designed to look like trains, have operated in the pedestrianised area for the past 10 years, carrying passengers for CNY2 (US$0.31) per person.
