Starwood has revealed that its Sheraton hotel in Macau has become part of its new Sheraton Grand portfolio.
The 3,896-room Sheraton Macao Hotel Cotai Central, which became the world’s largest Starwood hotel when it opened in 2012, will now be known as the Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel Cotai Central, joining a collection of 17 other Sheraton Grand hotels around the world.
The new higher-tier sub-brand was launched last year as part of the ‘Sheraton 2020’ strategy, which is aimed at improving and expanding the Sheraton portfolio.
“We are very pleased to be elevated to ‘Grand’ status,” said Janet McNab, managing director of Sheraton and St Regis hotels in Macau. “This recognition by Sheraton Hotels & Resorts inspires us to continue delivering outstanding service and memorable experiences to each and every one of our guests.”
Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel Cotai Central joins four other Sheraton Grand hotels in China: Sheraton Grand Beijing Dongcheng Hotel, Sheraton Grand Hangzhou Wetland Park Resort, Sheraton Grand Xishuangbanna Hotel and Sheraton Grand Hangzhou Binjiang Hotel.
And Starwood is aiming to launch 100 Sheraton Grand hotels globally by early 2017.
