Singapore and EU to start free trade talks

Singapore and the European Union are starting talk on a free-trade agreement seen as an “important stepping stone” in the EU’s engagement with Southeast Asia.EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gutch and Singapore’s Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang made the announcement during a meeting, Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement.The first round of negotiations will be held from 8 to 12 March in Singapore, the ministry said.
