A record number of UAE travellers visited Singapore last year, according to statistics released by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). A total of 56, 474 UAE visitors head to the destination last year, resulting in a 14 percent year-on-year increase. “2010 was a landmark year in Singapore’s continual evolution as a travellers’ destination,” said Jason Ong, area director MEA at STB. “From South East Asia’s first Universal Studios theme park at Resort World Sentosa to the world’s longest infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands to the world’s first Youth Olympic Games, travellers were able to enjoy a host of new enriching experiences.” Singapore also witnessed a 20 percent rise in worldwide travellers last year and is now looking forward to opening new attractions later this year. “Singapore’s tourism offering will continue to evolve this year with the completion of groundbreaking projects such as the first phase of the 101ha ‘Gardens by the Bay’ that will transform Singapore into a ‘City in a Garden’,” added Ong. “Our integrated resorts will also continue their rollout with new projects such as the launch of the world’s first ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands and the Maritime Xperiential Museum at Resorts World Sentosa.”
