Travel search website Skyscanner will expand its offering after acquiring hotel search company Fogg.
The move will allow the site, which is known predominantly for flight searches, to offer hotel meta-search to its customers. Plans are also in place to launch a car rental service.
Fogg hotel search will be integrated into Skyscanner’s site by the end of this year and see a larger coverage of hotels under its new owners.
As Fogg is currently based in Barcelona, Skyscanner will open an office in the Spanish city where all five of Fogg’s full-time employees will be based.
“Our users are going to love our hotel search as a result of this acquisition. We built the best flight search product anywhere in the world. We then expanded that offering into car rental. And today we’ve taken a big step towards completing the picture in the space of hotel search,” said Skyscanner’s CEO Gareth Williams.
“The Fogg team share Skyscanner’s passion for simple, natural and flexible travel solutions, bringing inspiration back into the travel experience. It makes them the perfect fit for us,” he added.
The acquisition comes as Skyscanner moves ‘rapidly’ into the US, Canada and Latin America markets after recently opening a hub office in Miami.
