Starwood has continued the expansion of its luxury St Regis brand in the Asia Pacific region with the signing of a new hotel in the Chinese port city of Qingdao.
The new-build St Regis Qingdao, which is scheduled for completion in early 2020, will be located on West Hong Kong Road, in the centre of the Shandong city.
Spanning across the first, third, fourth and 52nd to 70th floors of a mixed-use development, the luxury hotel will be part of the city’s tallest building, offering views of the Yellow Sea.
It will feature approximately 242 rooms and suites with a minimum size of 56m². There will also be five restaurants and bars, a heated indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and more than 1,600m² of meeting space.

In addition to the six landmark St. Regis properties across China, we are thrilled to further expand our footprint in fast-growing cities including Qingdao,” said Jim Petrus, global brand leader for St Regis Hotels & Resorts.
St Regis currently operates hotels in Beijing, Chengdu, Lhasa, Sanya, Shenzhen and Tianjin. And nine more hotels are set to debut across the Greater China region, in locations including Macau, Changsha, Guiyang, Lijiang, Nanjing, Zhuhai, Haikou, and the Hainan beach resorts of Haitang Bay and Qingshui Bay.
The announcement of the St Regis Qingdao comes just days after the brand revealed plans to debut in the Maldives, with the St Regis Vommuli Resort set to open in 2016.
