Starwood’s Aloft brand continues China expansion

Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ Aloft brand will debut a further six new hotels in China by 2013. In February 2011 the Aloft Nanhai, in the southeastern city of Foshan became the second Aloft in China after the debut of Aloft Beijing Haidian in 2008. The brand will now be rolled-out to six more cities in the country over the next two years, including the coastal city of Haiyang, Shandong province, and two properties in Zhengzhou, Henan province in 2011. A new Aloft in Guangzhou will open its doors in 2012, with new properties scheduled to debut in Dalian, Shandong province, and Yancheng, Jiangsu province, in 2013.

The next property to open will be the 172-room Aloft Zhengzhou Shangjie, on 30 April 2011. Like all Aloft hotels, the property will feature loft-like rooms with nine-foot (2.7m) ceilings and large windows. The rooms also offer connectivity for multiple electronic gadgetries such as PDAs, cell phones, mp3 players and laptops – all linked to a large flat screen HDTV. Following in June 2011 will be 165-room Aloft Haiyan, which will form part of a mixed-use complex including residential apartments, villas, a retail pedestrian precinct and pier. Haiyang will be the host city for 2012 Asian Beach Games. In December 2011, the 293-room
Aloft Zhengzhou Zhengdong New District will open its doors, offering approximately 388 square metres of meeting space.
Next May will see the launch of the 300-room Aloft Guangzhou University Park on Xiaoguwei Island, north of Xinzao Town of Panyu District, while the 250-room Aloft Yancheng will open in January 2013, as will the 350-room Aloft Dalian, which will feature approximately 1,500 square metres of meeting space.
