W Hotels Worldwide, the lux rebel of Marriott International, has announced it has once again joined forces with Mixcloud, the world’s leading long form music streaming platform that is fostering a global community for audio culture. Now in its second edition, Future Rising is the cutting-edge, creative platform that brings together rising talent from both the worlds of music and visual art.

Kicking off on 20 September at W Guangzhou, Future Rising will then travel to W Bangkok (26 September), W Goa (18 October), W Kuala Lumpur (7 November) and W Brisbane (15 November) to explore the intersection of music and visual art to celebrate zeitgeist of a city and introducing cultural changemakers who you’ll soon be seeing everywhere.

“Music has been integral to the W brand since its inception. W Hotels is committed to supporting future creative leaders and immersive experiences for our guests through our shared passions, including music,” said Bruce Ryde, vice president of luxury brands and brand marketing in Asia Pacific at Marriott International.

Future rising APAC: Right here! Right now! campaign will feature musical talents paired with visual artists. Together, these artists will explore each cities spirit to co-create a unique audio-visual performance that will be premiered at each Future Rising event.

“Each year, Future Rising has gone from strength to strength and this year’s theme Right here! Right now! came about because we wanted to create something that’s urgent, necessary and vital for today in these different cities,” said Kazim Rashid, creative director at Mixcloud.

W Hotels Worldwide, part of Marriott International, has debuted in Australia with the opening of W Brisbane in one of the country’s fastest-growing cities.

Owned by Shayher Group and overlooking the Brisbane River in the city’s CBD, the hotel’s bold, playful and modern W branding is a great match for the fast urban lifestyle in the capital of the Sunshine State.

“W Brisbane is the first of its kind in Australia,” said Haldon Philp, general manager at W Brisbane. “From the Whatever/Whenever service that drives the W brand, delivering whatever our guests want, whenever they want it, to event programming centred around Design, Music, Fashion and Fuel [the brand’s take on fitness] to coveted partnerships such as Three Blue Ducks.

W Brisbane houses 312 guest rooms including 32 suites, which feature river views and the latest in tech and entertainment. Although the rooms prominently feature white walls, it’s far from boring with wall panels inspired by traditional Queenslander homes. In addition, 10-gallon drums provide an outback vibe ins the bathrooms.

Finally, the Extreme Wow Suite – the brand’s interpretation of the traditional presidential suite – showcases a panoramic view of the river to the mountains and beyond.

The Wonderful King Room – W Brisbane

W Brisbane has tapped Nic Graham & Associates, a local interior design agency. The group has made a theme of “A River Dreaming”, an ode to its location on the banks of Brisbane River. In recent years, it has become a buzzing epicentre of the city’s social scene, and its features are weaved throughout the hotel.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts recently announced its intent to launch a dedicated site – Club InterContinental – offering exclusive guest benefits and privileges.

The new portal will focus on personalised end-to-end guest experience. Bruce Ryde, director brand marketing, luxury and lifestyle brands, IHG Asia, Middle East & Africa said: “Club InterContinental is much more than a room category – it includes an array of privileges from reservation to departure.”

Some of the privileges include free Wi-Fi connection in the vehicle from airport to the hotel, buffet breakfast, complimentary pressing, a daily turndown service, a dedicated Club InterContinental room, evening drinks and canapés.
