Hong Kong’s Cachet Hospitality Group (CHG) has agreed to take over Dewa Phuket, marking the company’s entry into the popular Thai resort destination.

The luxury resort, which is located at Nai Yang Beach in the north of the island, will now undergo a major renovation before relaunching as the Cachet Resort Dewa Phuket. The refurbishment is expected to be completed in November 2017 and will include the launch of new F&B and entertainment concepts.

Dewa becomes the company’s third property in Thailand, following the recent announcement of the Savant Vela Hotel in Bangkok, which is due to open in November, and Cachet Deluxe Hotel & Residences Bangkok, which will follow in 2018.

“We are… eager to introduce the Cachet resort brand to this region,” said Kimy Chen, CHG’s president of Southeast Asia. “With 59 flights from Bangkok per day, Phuket is an extremely accessible and appealing vacation destination. Travellers to the island are ready to experience our acclaimed designs, enticing F&B programs and innovative amenities.”

Surrounded by the Sirinat National Park and less than 10 minutes’ drive from Phuket International Airport, Dewa Phuket offers 128 rooms, suites and villas, plus two restaurants, a spa and fitness centre, two pools, a kids’ club and approximately 1,000m² of meeting space,

CHG will also bring Californian wine bar brand Stonehaus to the resort, as well as developing a Cachet Pool Club to host regular parties with international DJs.

“We are delighted to partner with Cachet Hospitality Group. As the Phuket market grows increasingly sophisticated, our prime Nai Yang Beach location is more coveted than ever,” said Lars Ydmark, managing director of R&B Partners, which owns Dewa. “With our transformation into Cachet Resort Dewa Phuket and the introduction of Cachet’s exciting F&B and social programmes, we are poised to set a new standard for what is Nai Yang Beach.”

CHG currently operates properties in China, the US and Mexico, and has numerous other projects under development across Asia and the Americas. It has also taken over the eco-friendly URBN hotel brand.

The company has signed an agreement to launch a dual-branded Cachet Hotel Apartments and URBN Boutique Hotel in the city, adding of 196 rooms, multiple F&B outlets and other facilities. The project, which is being developed by Wuhan King Land as part of the huge Ace-Mega development, is scheduled to open in 2018.

“We are honoured to be working with Wuhan King Land on the development of this exciting destination,” said Kimy Chen, CHG’s chief development officer for Asia Pacific. “We look forward to expanding our brand presence in the city. This property is well positioned to capture the growing market of this key tourism and business destination.”

The prefabricated rooms will average 24m² and will be assembled off-site

Hong Kong’s Cachet Hotel Group (CHG) has taken its first step into the midscale hotel sector with the unveiling of its latest hotel concept, Savant.

The Savant Hotel by Cachet brand will make its debut in Qingdao, and the company is targeting a major roll-out across mainland China with at least 200 hotels expected to launch in the coming years. It will operate alongside the CHG’s upscale URBN, Cachet and Cachet Boutique hotel brands.

“We are witnessing a fundamental shift in Chinese real estate as developers are looking to build boutique and midscale hotels that can address the growing demand for a higher quality of domestic tourism,” said Alexander Mirza, CHG’s president & CEO. “In addition, a growing number of discerning but cost-conscious business and government travellers will provide a steady stream of consumers for midscale lifestyle hotels focused on tier two and tier three cities across China.

The prefabricated rooms will average 24m² and will be assembled off-site
The prefabricated rooms will average 24m² and will be assembled off-site

“The emerging midscale lifestyle segment is poised to capture spending from the burgeoning middle class who are looking for modern design and at an affordable price,” he added.

Savant Hotels will offer high-tech services such as mobile check-in and check-out, booking and payment options via WeChat, free Wi-Fi and “social” lobby areas with multiple power sockets for electronic devices.

The rooms, which are being called “Brilliant Cabins”, will average 24m² and offer high quality bedding and wide-screen TVs, while hotel facilities will include fitness studios and F&B outlets that feature interactive tables and automated dispensers.

Hotels are also designed to be eco-friendly, with green roofs and solar panels to keep energy costs low, and the prefabricated rooms will be assembled off-site and delivered complete with carpeting, lighting and even showers, reducing construction costs.

CHG said it will roll out the Savant brand in a mix of urban, suburban and airport locations across mainland China’s first, second and third tier cities. These will include projects that are dual-branded with other CHG hotels.

The company, which currently operates two hotels in Shanghai and has a large pipeline of urban projects, has now signed a dual-branded resort complex in southern China’s Guizhou province.

The new development will comprise a 182-room Cachet Resort Wanfeng Valley and a 71-room eco-friendly URBN Hotel when it opens in October 2016. Currently being developed by SenYao Real Estate Development, the resort spans more than 120 hectares of land near the city of Xingyi.

“We are proud and honoured to partner with… SenYao Real Estate Development,” said Alexander Mirza, CEO & president of CHG. “This signing underscores our commitment to fulfilling the demand for lifestyle destinations in Asia and we look forward to bringing tech-forward, innovative Cachet and URBN brands to Wanfeng Valley.”

Designed by Italian architect Stefano Boeri and Chinese artist Simon Ma, the resort will feature two restaurants and lounges, a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre. It will also be located close to the Wanfeng Valley Village, which features shopping, dining and entertainment outlets.

The Guizhou resorts join CHG’s expanding pipeline of Cachet, Cachet Boutique and URBN hotels in mainland China, including locations in Chengdu, Wuhan, Kunming and Hangzhou. It is also planning to launch in Bangkok and the Mexican resort of Cabo San Lucas, and recently announced plans for its first US property in California.

Cachet Hotel Group (CHG) has signed its second new Chinese hotel within a week, with the announcement of plans for its first property in Wuhan.

Just two days after the Hong Kong-based hotel group signed its first hotel in Hangzhou, CHG has now penned a contract for a new Cachet Boutique hotel in Wuhan, marking the company’s entry into central China.

Opening in 2017, the hotel will be located on River Avenue in central Wuhan. The company said it is “actively” seeking opportunities to expand its portfolio further “throughout Greater China, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and the United States”.

Cachet Hotel Group (CHG) is continuing its growth in China, with the signing of a deal to launch its flagship Cachet hotel brand in the city of Chengdu.

Last month, the company announced an agreement to bring its eco-friendly URBN Hotels brand to Kunming, and now it has followed this up with the signing of a Cachet-branded “lifestyle” hotel in Sichuan’s capital.

Currently under construction and set to open in 2016, the new Cachet Hotel will form part of a new mixed-use development called the Chengdu Jinbao Plaza, which will feature office and commercial towers, a financial centre and luxury shopping mall.

The glass-fronted hotel will offer 191 rooms, all of which come with electronic tablets to access hotel services such as in-room dining, laundry and housekeeping. Guests will check-in online and use their smartphones as room keys. Hotel facilities will include a Chinese restaurant, spa and cocktail bar.

“Chengdu has evolved into a global destination and is home to pioneering industries including information technology, biomedical engineering and new energy,” said Alexander Mirza, president & CEO of CHG. “This landmark development presents the perfect opportunity for Cachet’s flagship brand to introduce product and service innovations that redefine the Asian hospitality experience.”

Cachet is one of three brands offered by CHG, along with URBN and r Hotel. The company says it is “focused on establishing properties in Greater China, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and the United States”.
