EVA Air will launch daily non-stop flights between Taipei and the northwestern Philippines, starting on March 30, 2023.

The addition of Clark International Airport will give EVA Air three gateways in the Philippines and boost the convenience and flexibility passengers enjoy now with the Manila and Cebu services. By the end of March, the airline will be operating 35 flights a week to the Philippines, offering travellers from throughout Asia, Europe, Australia and North America more arrival and departure options.

Clark Airport is about 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Manila Airport, giving Filipino passengers an alternative way to fly to Taiwan and connect onward to other destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. The Clark service also reduces travel time from the airport to popular northern Luzon Island beaches and resorts and, via the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), is still convenient to Manila. The new gateway is tailor-made for Taiwan – Philippines travellers. It will also be attractive to European and American passengers who transit to the Philippines through Taipei.

The airline will fly an Airbus A321-200 to Clark and provide conveniently scheduled flights:

Clark is northwest of Angeles City in Pampanga Province on the site of the United States’ former Clark Air Force Base. After the US Air Force decommissioned the base, the Philippine government repurposed it as a special economic zone. It’s a secure area with beautiful scenery, a pleasant climate and numerous resorts. Leisure travellers can experience light aircraft, hang glide, paraglide, zipline, explore caves, snorkel, surf, fish and enjoy beautiful beaches, along with the warm hospitality and delicious foods the Philippines is known for.

Several domestic and international flights in Philippines’ Clark International Airport scheduled on Monday night, 22 April, and Tuesday, 23 April, were cancelled following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that rocked Luzon on Monday afternoon.

The earthquake’s epicentre is located near Castillejos, Zambales, a province in the north of Pampanga, which is the site of Clark Airport. The airport has been severely damaged leaving more than 150,000 passengers stranded, according to local reports.  Photos on social media showed parts of the roof collapsed into the check-in hall. Seven people were reportedly injured in the incident.

Currently, the airport is closed until further notice. Jaime Melo, president of the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), said that part of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) tower has cracks.

“No tower, no airport,” Melo said. An update today claimed that the tower is structurally sound, but safety is paramount for the airport.

Department of Transportation Arthur Tugade ordered airlines to take care of the passengers and should not shoulder any fees to rebook their flights. Clark Airport is offering free bus ride from the airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport to some passengers. CIAC is currently assessing the extent of the damages and repairs will start today.

Officials said that some flights are diverted to NAIA. They advised passengers that it is best to coordinate with their respective airlines.

Cebu Pacific said affected passengers will be notified via email or text message. They may manage their booking through the Manage Booking section of the airline’s website.

They may avail of the following options, free of charge:

  • rebook their flights for travel within 30 days from original departure date
  • place the cost of the ticket in a travel fund for future use
  • get a full refund

Cebu Pacific also said passengers may request to reroute their flight to or from Manila, subject to seat availability.

Meanwhile, PAL said affected passengers can either rebook or reroute their flights within 30 days from the original flight date, with penalties waived.

“We urge passengers with flights to or from Clark to check the status of their flights by logging on to www.philippineairlines.com and clicking the flight status button as early as 48 hours to their estimated time of departure. They may also call PAL Hotline (02) 855-8888,” the flag carrier said.

Clark serves as a smaller-sized focus airport for various airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Philippines Air Asia. Qatar Airways and Emirates also provide daily non-stop services from their respective hubs in the Middle East, alongside several other Asian carriers serving cities in China, Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. More than 2.6 million passengers travelled through Clark Airport in 2018.

Ayusin ang industriyang panghimpapawid ng Pilipinas, mungkahi ng AsBAA https://dev.traveldailymedia.com/asbaa-pushes-philippine-aviation-infrastructure-solutions-local-officials/ Mon, 26 Feb 2018 05:43:22 +0000 http://www.traveldailymedia.com/?p=444792 The post Ayusin ang industriyang panghimpapawid ng Pilipinas, mungkahi ng AsBAA appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Brand TD.

The Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) recently held a site visit and investment trip to the Philippines. Led by its Philippine chapter, the agenda for this visit were to resolve congestion at NAIA in Manila, and to improve the country’s existing business and general aviation (BA/GA) facilities for long-term use. The longer-term aviation infrastructure development solution being explored by AsBAA is a redistribution plan located north of the capital, either at Clark International Airport or Subic Bay International Airport.

The post Ayusin ang industriyang panghimpapawid ng Pilipinas, mungkahi ng AsBAA appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Brand TD.

We look forward to forging a stronger partnership with Qatar Airways who has been a strong supporter of CIAC for the past few years,” said Alexander Cauguiran, president of Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC).

The new service will now operate daily from Dubai, flying direct to Cebu and then onwards to Clark, before returning direct from Clark to Dubai. Emirates will deploy a two-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the route, with 42 seats in business class and 386 in economy.

“We are confident that our new service will have a positive impact on the development of tourism and trade in the Philippines’ regional economies,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president of strategic planning, revenue optimisation & aeropolitical affairs.

“The service will also provide more choice for travellers from the Philippines, who will be able to conveniently connect to 39 cities in Europe, 16 in the Middle East as well as a number of destinations across our extensive network in Africa and South America via… Dubai.”

Flights will depart Dubai International Airport every day at 0255, arriving at Mactan-Cebu International Airport at 1550. The service will then depart Cebu at 1720 and arrive at Clark International Airport at 1850hrs. The return flight leaves Clark at 2020 and arrives back in Dubai at 0120.

The new flights will complement Emirates’ existing flights to Manila.

Scheduled to commence on 30 March, the new triangular route will operate daily from Dubai to Cebu, then onwards to Clark and back to Dubai. And ahead of the launch, Emirates hosted more than 75 travel industry members in Dubai to educate the trade about the new destinations.

“The circular Cebu and Clark routes will be the first new passenger destinations for Emirates in the 2016 calendar year and our preparations for the launch are currently in full swing. With a month to go we are ramping up our activities in our hub of Dubai and around our global network, in order to increase tourism flows in both directions,” said Khalid bel Jaflah, Emirates’ divisional vice president of commercial operations for the UAE & Oman.

Among those present at the event was the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, HE Constancio R. Vingno Jr, Philippine Consul-General HE Paul R. Cortes, and the chair of the Philippine Business Council Dubai, Ms Marian Celeste Carella.

Last year, Emirates transported more than 550,000 passengers on its Dubai-Manila route, and the new Clark and Cebu services are expected to boost arrivals to the Philippines, strengthening the country’s ‘Visit the Philippines Again 2016’ campaign.

The new services will be operated using a two-class, 428-seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, potentially delivering almost 3,000 visitors to the Philippines each week.

Low-cost carrier Tigerair Philippines has been renamed Cebgo.

Tiger Airways sold its Philippine unit to Cebu Pacific (CEB) in March 2014, as part of the Singapore-based group’s strategy of divesting its loss-making subsidiaries. Since then the Tigerair Philippines has operated as part of CEB, with coordinated sales and operations, but retaining the Tigerair branding.

The rebranding to Cebgo will further align the two airlines, with former Tigerair aircraft being repainted with a new livery using CEB’s yellow, white, blue and green colour scheme. The airline has also launched a new logo and uniforms for its flight and ground crews.

“The new Cebgo brand clearly identifies us as part of the CEB group, and streamlines our operations further,” said Michael Ivan Shau, Cebgo’s president & CEO. “Cebgo will continue to leverage on CEB’s distribution channels and network, and work together to serve more guests.”

Cebgo will continue to operate all of Tigerair Philippines’ flights from Manila‘s Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Clark International Airport. Currently it serves 15 domestic destinations: Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Clark, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Legazpi, Manila, Roxas, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban and Tagbilaran. It also operates international flights to Hong Kong.

CEB said that since its acquisition of Tigerair Philippines last year, it has managed to “quickly turn around” the LCC, “narrowing its financial losses significantly”.

Tigerair Philippines has launched 10 new routes since joining forces with CEB, and the airline carried 1.3 million domestic passengers in 2014, up 34% compared to 2013.

Cebgo will operate a fleet of 180-seat, all-economy class Airbus A320 aircraft.

Qatar Airways has launched its second route to the Philippines.

The airline touched down at Clark International Airport on Monday 28 October2013, following a direct flight from Doha, to mark the start of a new daily service. This will complement the airline’s existing twice daily flights between Doha and Manila.

“Qatar Airways has reached yet another key milestone in the Philippines, with the launch of additional daily flights to this fast-growing country,” said Woo Yew Seong, the airline’s senior vice president of commercial operations, on arrival in Clark.

“With our new offering, business and leisure travellers to the Luzon area have great connections via Doha from many popular destinations, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait, Muscat, Dammam, Riyadh, Montreal, New York, London and Paris.”

The Clark route will be operated using a two-class Airbus A330 aircraft with 284 seats – 36 in business class and 248 in economy.

Clark becomes Qatar Airways’ 12th gateway in Southeast Asia, following Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Hanoi, Singapore, Manila, Yangon and Phuket.  The entire Asian region now represents around 30% of the airline’s global network.

Emirates is preparing to launch flights to Clark – its second destination in the Philippines.

The new route will take off for the first time on 1 October 2013, with flights operating daily from Dubai International Airport, using a two-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Nearly 680,000 Filipinos live in the UAE alone, along with 342,000 in Qatar, 186,000 in Kuwait and a 1.5 million in Saudi Arabia. And Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ senior vice president of commercial operations for Gulf region, said this overseas population would fuel demand for the new route.

“When you see these figures showing the full extent of the Filipino diaspora, it’s clear how important a new route to the Philippines becomes,” said Al Mualla. “Over more than 20 years, Emirates has carried millions of passengers on the Dubai-Manila route and I am sure with the number of Filipinos on the move around the world, Clark will be equally successful.”

Emirates launched flights to Manila in 1990, making it one of the carrier’s first destinations in Southeast Asia. It now offers three daily flights to the Philippine capital.

The daily Clark service will depart Dubai at 0400 and arrive at Clark International Airport, 80km from northeast of Manila, at 1640. The return flight will depart at 1835 and arrive back in Dubai at 2305.

The new Emirates service is one of several new routes between UAE and the Philippines being launched this October, following the liberation of air services between the two countries. Philippine Airlines will commence flights to Abu Dhabi on 1 October and Dubai by the end of the year, while Cebu Pacific is launching services to Dubai on 7 October.

Emirates has announced plans to launch flights to a second destination in the Philippines.

From October 2013, the Dubai-based airline will add a new direct service to Clark International Airport, located near Angeles City, approximately 80km from Manila. Flights will operate daily, complementing Emirates’ existing triple daily service to Manila. The Clark launch follows the recent expansion of a bilateral air service agreement between the UAE and the Philippines.

“There has always been a growing demand for Emirates’ services since we connected Manila with Dubai and our constantly expanding network on six continents. The launch of flights between Clark International Airport and Dubai will offer our passengers the flexibility of choosing from two destinations in the Philippines,” said Tim Clark, President of Emirates. “I would like to extend Emirates’ thanks to the government of the Philippines and the Civil Aviation and Clark Authority that have made the start of this service possible,” he added.

Emirates will serve Clark using a two-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with flights departing Dubai at 0400 and arriving at Clark at 1640. The return service will depart the Philippines at 1835 and arrive back in Dubai at 2305.

The move will coincide with the launch of Cebu Pacific’s (CEB) first flights to the Dubai. From 7 October 2013, the Philippine low-cost carrier will commence daily services between Manila and Dubai, using an all-economy Airbus A330 aircraft. The launch will mark CEB’s entry into the Middle East.

Tiger Airways has completed a deal to acquire a 40% stake in Southeast Asian Airlines (SEAir).

The parties had agreed a purchase price of US$7 million, but this has been reduced significantly to US$2.5m, as a result of a due diligence review to determine SEAir’s liabilities. The stake in the Philippine low-cost carrier will be held through Tiger’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Roar Aviation II Pte Ltd.

Singapore-based Tiger said it is “committed to supporting the working capital needs of SEAir, including pre-existing liabilities, with shareholder loans of up to US$40 million”.

“Together with our Philippine business partners, our immediate focus will be on scaling up the business through network expansion, building a strong customer base, and establishing the airline’s brand presence,” said Tiger’s Group CEO, Koay Peng Yen. “The Philippines has tremendous growth potential and we welcome the opportunity to be at the heart of it.”

The investment in SEAir is Tiger’s second joint venture. Earlier this year the airline acquired a 33% stake in Indonesia’s Mandala Airlines, and has since seen the airline relaunch operations under Tiger’s LCC business model. Tiger said the acquisitions are in line with its “strategy to expand and develop its business in the region”. The airline already has units based in Singapore and Australia.

Like Mandala, SEAir will adopt Tiger’s low-cost business model, flying to domestic and international destinations within a five-hour radius from its twin home bases at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Clark International Airport. Like Tiger, SEAir will operate a fleet of single-class Airbus A320s.

Since the end of last month SEAir has added a series of new domestic flights from NAIA to Cebu, Davao, Tacloban, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Kalibo and Bacolod. The airline also operates flights from Clark to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kota Kinabalu, Singapore and Boracay.

AirAsia Philippines will follow up the recent launch of its international flights with the start of services to Hong Kong and Macau.

Earlier this month, the new low-cost carrier launched daily flights from its Clark base to Kuala Lumpur, marking the low-cost carrier’s first ever international service.

On 19 July, AirAsia Philippines will boost its international route map further with the twin launch of flights to Hong Kong and Macau. These flights will offer a twice daily service to the Pearl River Delta region, with morning flights to Hong Kong and evening services to Macau.

“Just four weeks after launching our first international flight to Kuala Lumpur, we are twice excited to announce today that Philippines AirAsia will start flying out of Clark to Hong Kong and Macau on July 19. Business travellers and overseas Filipino workers will welcome these new routes while it provides tourists and shoppers exciting choices,” AirAsia Philippines’ CEO, Maan Hontiveros.

The new international routes add to the airline’s existing domestic services to Kalibo (Boracay), Davao and Puerto Princesa. All routes will be operated using AirAsia Philippines’ single-class Airbus A320 aircraft.

AirAsia’s new Philippines-based subsidiary took to the skies for the first time today. On Wednesday 28 March 2012, Philippines Air Asia commenced its maiden flights from its home base at Clark International Airport to Kalibo, the gateway to the island of Boracay, and the city of Davao on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.

The twin launches were witnessed by the Philippines’ Department of Transportation & Communications Secretary Mar Roxas II and other government officials, along with AirAsia’s Group CEO, Tony Fernandes and Philippines AirAsia’s CEO, Maan Hontiveros.

“Philippines AirAsia maiden flights are pioneering routes. Our Clark to Davao and Clark to Kalibo flights will make air travel for Northern and Central Luzon passengers more convenient and comfortable. They can even be spared from the traffic of EDSA (the Manila ring road) and the long queues of NAIA (Manila’s main airport),” Hontiveros said at the launch ceremony.

“The prospect of Philippines AirAsia starting its flights is truly exciting. The Philippines is a robust and growing market. We are here because we are confident of its growth. With our pioneering flights and with the options we offer, millions of Southeast Asians will finally be able to easily access the Philippines from various parts of the Asean region,” Fernandes added.

Philippines AirAsia, which has an initial investment of PHP468 million (US$10.8 million), will initially operate a fleet of two brand new Airbus A320s for its daily flights to Davao and twice daily services to Kalibo. This fleet is expected to double to four aircraft within a year.

Eventually the airline expects to serve a range of domestic and international destinations from Clark, including Hong Kong, Macau, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Kuching.
