Luxperia Collective Vietnam shares the release of one of the UK’s top viewed reality TV shows ‘A League Of Their Own South East Asia 2023’ was released on Sky Max (UK) on 17 February 2023.

As local ground operator in collaboration with Asia Film Fixers, LUXPERIA’s team coordinated the group with local logistics, vehicles and boats in style as they traversed the country from North to Central Vietnam. Cast and crew travelled from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha and onwards to Hoi An from an epic 3 week shoot in September 2022.

“Our goal in working with international media and film shoots is to guide and support the production in order to produce an outcome that will yield positive brand awareness for Vietnam” said Le Hong Lan (Managing Director LUXPERIA). Further adding “it takes the celebrity followings (of the cast) that will convert more people to travel both domestically and also attract a new audience of inbound travellers to Asia through the fun local experiences featured on the show.”

A League of Their Own was produced by CPL Productions whom proudly have produced a string of hit TV shows including ’90 Day Fiancée UK’, ‘Married At First Site UK’, ‘Britain’s Greatest Obsessions’ and many more..

Post Pandemic, the demand of Indians choosing Vietnam as a desirable destination has continued to increase. The country has been actively encouraging Indians to visit through a series of bilateral conferences and activities. Instead of choosing popular tourist destinations in Southeast Asia such as Thailand or Singapore, Indian tourists are now starting to gradually turn their attention to Vietnam, a destination with beautiful scenery, delicious food, and high-class resort services.

The most in-demand destinations by Indians include Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon, Danang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Dalat, and Halong, with the country continuing to be sort out by Indians traveling for leisure with family & friends.

Indians are now heading and planning a trip to Vietnam within 1 year waiting period for US Visa. According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), an average monthly rise of 51% was seen in the number of Indian tourists to Vietnam in the first 10 months of this year; A total of 20,681 Indian visiting in October and 82,066 in the first 10 months of 2022.

Focusing on connecting Vietnam & India ever closer than before, VietJet is currently operating 17 direct flights to India and has recently announced a set of direct flights that will connect Da Nang to Mumbai & New Delhi, bridging the 3194 kilometers gap between the two countries in approximately 4.5 hours.

Facilitating Indian travel by providing visas on arrival, Vietnam seeks to bring passengers from the big cities in India’s West and Central-Southern region to the economic and tourism hubs of Vietnam. Operating direct flight from Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, Indians can travel to Vietnam and the Vietnamese cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc. Since July, the number of Indian tourists to Vietnam each month surpasses the figures recorded in 2019.

Luxury hotel company Viceroy is set to make its debut in Southeast Asia, with a new project at Cocobay – the huge integrated resort rising on Vietnam’s central coast.

Set to open in 2020, Viceroy Da Nang Vietnam will be a five-star resort with more than 700 keys, including hotel rooms, suites and condominiums. It will also feature eight F&B outlets, swimming pools, a spa and extensive event space including three ballrooms.

Its twin towers will be joined at the top by a “crystal bridge”, from which guests will be offered views of Danang and the sea.

“This is Viceroy’s first foray into Asia’s most highly-anticipated market, which is being created from the ground up,” said Anton Bawab, regional president of the Viceroy Hotel Group. “The mix of culture, nightlife and hospitality that will come to life here will solidify Viceroy Da Nang Vietnam as a must-visit destination.”

Set between the river and sea, close to Danang and Hoi An in central Vietnam, Cocobay will become a major new destination for the region. Its master plan includes plans for a convention centre, opera house, sports arena, beach club, shops, F&B outlets and nightlife venues.

The development made headlines recently when Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star, announced that he had purchased a property at Cocobay.

Viceroy Da Nang Vietnam will join the company’s portfolio of 20 properties currently operating or under development in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. Arguably the most famous is the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, which spans the Formula One motor racing circuit in the UAE capital.

As well as Vietnam, Viceroy is planning to launch in Serbia, Portugal, Turkey and Argentina in future.

BHMAsia, the Bangkok-based hotel group, is planning to following up its record year in 2016 with the opening of multiple new properties this year.

The company, which operates the X2, X2 Vibe and Away brands, secured deals for 15 new hotels last year, covering Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia and adding 1,200 new keys. Once all these hotels open they will double the company’s current inventory.

And looking ahead to the coming year, BHMAsia said it intends to open eight new hotels in 2017, including some of last year’s signings.

This expansion will commence in March 2017 with the opening of the 266-room X2 Vibe Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel, which will mark BHMAsia’s entry into the Thai capital. Then in June, X2 Chiang Mai Riverside Resort will welcome its first guests, while Pattaya and Hoi An will both gain X2 Vibe Hotels in the third quarter of 2017.

And Q4 2017 will be especially active, with new properties in Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Phuket all commencing operations.

To support the company’s growth, BHMAsia will open a new representative office in Vietnam this month.

The company has also revealed details of two properties that are due to open in 2018; X2 Bangkok Silom and an X2 hotel on the Indonesian island of Lombok.

“As we continue to extend our presence across Asia Pacific we are focused on ensuring that each new addition to our portfolio represents the very best of Four Seasons, offering the highest levels of service excellence and product quality. Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai… will be no exception,” J. Allen Smith, Four Seasons’ president & CEO, commented when the management agreement was first announced.

Hoiana will be spread along a 4km stretch of beachfront

The historic town of Hoi An, on Vietnam’s central coast, will become a major new Southeast Asian beach resort destination by the end of the decade, under new plans unveiled this week.

A huge new “integrated tourism and leisure destination”, called ‘Hoiana’, will be developed along a 4km stretch of beachfront land just 5km from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed centre of Hoi An. The first phase of the giant US$4 billion project is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2019.

Hoiana, which is being created by Vietnamese real estate company VinaCapital, in a joint venture with Gold Yield Enterprises of Hong Kong and Macau-based gaming giant Suncity, will feature multiple hotels and resorts, residential areas, casinos, a beachfront village and retail district, convention centre, hospitality training college, watersports, a golf course and a manmade lagoon for swimming.

Hoiana will be spread along a 4km stretch of beachfront
Hoiana will be spread along a 4km stretch of beachfront land

Don Lam, the project’s chairman, said Hoiana would become a one of “Asia’s most renowned resort destinations”, setting “a new benchmark for high-end tourism in Vietnam”.

“To the visitor, Vietnam’s central coast offers an immersive and multifaceted experience. Vibrant ancient cities, breathtaking mountain vistas, countless pristine beaches, relative affordability, easy access and welcoming people make it a highly attractive destination for tourists – and for enterprise, it’s the land of golden opportunity,” said Lam.

The first phase of the Hoiana project will include 445-room hotel complex with integrated casino, 200 residential apartments to be operated by Hong Kong’s New World Hotels, a luxury Rosewood resort incorporating 75 villas and 25 residences, and a golf course.

The resort will also feature a beach club, a venue for live shows and events, a watersports and dive centre, retail promenade and a range of new bars and restaurants. The development plan also provides scope for additional investment in the subsequent phases of development, which are due to be completed over the course of 10-15 years. Once fully complete, Hoiana will be a “thriving township of hotels, residential and lifestyle zones”, according to its developers.

Already a popular tourist destination, Hoi An forms part of Vietnam’s central coast region, along with Danang and Hue. The expansion of Danang International Airport has been fast-tracked by government and will increase in capacity to 10 million passengers per year from mid-2017.

BHMAsia, which operates the X2 and Away boutique hotel brands, is expanding its presence across Vietnam.

Having entered the Vietnamese market last year, the Bangkok-based hotel group has now signed its sixth management contract in the country. Its nationwide pipeline now includes properties in Danang, Hoi An, Halong Bay and Viet Tri with a combined inventory of more than 850 keys. The projects range in size from 60 to over 230 keys and include a mix of hotels, resorts, villas and residences.

According to company CEO, Anthony McDonald, BHMAsia has been successful in Vietnam “due to the company’s philosophies and Asian culture”.

“Having been born in Asia, the company understands the way to do business here and the importance of long-term personal relationships,” McDonald said.

The sixth property signed by BHMAsia in Vietnam will also be the first to open. Scheduled to debut in Q2 2017, the X2 Vibe Hoi An Residence will form part of the New Hoi An City development. This seafront project will feature 230 residential units, ranging from one- to three-bedroom apartments and villas.

Also in 2017, BHMAsia will launch the X2 Halong Bay Hill Resort, and then in 2018 the company will open the Away Danang Thuy Tu Resort, Away Elite Hoi An Hotel and Residence, X2 Danang Resort and X2 Vibe Viet Tri Hotel. And further expansion is planned; the group expects to have more than 10 projects under development by the end of the year, and 16 by the end of 2017.

“We are building a team to support the new openings planned over the next 12-24 months,” explained Simon Jinks, BHMAsia’s country manager for Vietnam. “We are very confident with the Vietnamese market, and developers and investors see great value in our brands and what value we can bring to their projects.”

The famous Japanese Bridge in Hoi An will be completely dismantled in an effort to save the 400-year-old icon from ruin.

Thanh Nien News reports that the ornate covered bridge, which was built by Japanese traders in the 17th Century, is becoming weak due to recent flooding and the weight of the estimated 4,000 visitors who cross it each day.

Now, in an effort to strengthen the bridge, it will be dismantled piece-by-piece and each individual component restored or replaced as necessary.

Japanese cultural experts, who will provide technical advice on the project, said that the bridge can be repaired without affecting its appearance. Members of the Vietnam Culture Heritage Association have also suggested that the number of visitors on the bridge should be limited in future to prevent further damage.

Also known as the ‘Bridge Pagoda’, the historic structure stretches 18 metres across a canal in the UNESCO-listed centre of Hoi An. A Vietnamese icon, it appears on the country’s VND20,000 notes.

Bangkok-based hotel group BHMAsia has signed an agreement to launch its X2 brand in Vietnam.

A deal with Alternaty Real Estate will see the launch of a new X2 Vibe hotel in Hoi An, on Vietnam’s central coast. The property will form part of a large mixed-use complex, New Hoi An City, and will feature 210 residences and 12 beachfront villas, all with sea views. It will be co-located alongside the 356-room Ozo Hoi An.

The project is currently under construction and expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

“International branded operators are playing their part in helping Vietnam to improve its competitiveness against more mature destination Thailand and Indonesia, by working closely with international travel agents and delivering a convincing value proposition for the destinations and properties,” said Mauro Gasparotti, executive director at Alternaty.

“We believe X2 Vibe Hoi An will be an excellent product offering families a great alternative to traditional hotels.”

X2 Vibe is the “younger sub-brand” of X2 Resorts, according to BHMAsia, with properties being planned in Bangkok, Koh Samui, Pattaya and Phuket. X2 properties are already in operation in Koh Samui, Sydney, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi and the resort destination of Kui Buri, south of Hua Hin.

Onyx Hospitality Group has announced its entry into Vietnam, with the signing of a new Ozo hotel in Hoi An.

Scheduled to open in late 2016, the new Ozo Hoi An will offer 364 rooms, plus a restaurant gym and meeting space. The property will also form part of a new beachfront leisure complex also featuring F&B and retail outlets, and a pool which guests can access.

“Vietnam is one of the region’s fastest growing travel destinations and we are excited to have Ozo Hoi An as part of our continuing expansion plans,” said Peter Henley, Onyx’s CEO. “With the increasing popularity of Vietnam’s south-central coast amongst regional and international visitors, we have identified a gap in the market for a select service hotel like Ozo.”

A midscale hotel concept, Ozo offers guest-friendly in-room amenities including high-speed Wi-Fi, workspaces with multimedia panel and built-in connectors, black-out curtains and sound proofing.

Since the opening of its first hotel in 2013, Ozo has since expanded to five locations in Hong Kong, Thailand and Sri Lanka. As well as its launch in Vietnam, Onyx is also planning to bring the brand to Malaysia and China in future.

Khiri Travel has launched its largest tour itinerary to date – a 40-day journey that covers five countries in Indochina.

The new ‘Epic Multi-Country Program’ covers Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, and transports guests across the region by plane, train, bus, boat, bicycle and tuk tuk.

Accommodation includes a range of locally-owned properties, such as boutique guest houses and hotels, while attractions on the itinerary include the Shwedagon Pagoda and Bagan in Myanmar, the Pak Ou Caves in Laos, Angkor Wat and Sambor Prei Kuk in Cambodia, and Hoi An and Halong Bay in Vietnam.

Activities include visits to fortune tellers, bamboo craftsmen, local schools, fishermen, textile weavers, noodle makers and tai chi practitioners, while the culinary aspects of the trip include a Burmese mohinga breakfast, fruit sampling in a Vietnamese orchard and stops in a Hanoi market.

“This trip is designed to inspire the travel trade by showcasing the diversity of the region,” said Willem Niemeijer, Khiri Travel’s CEO. “The key themes are variety, going local and a liberal sprinkling of days at leisure for guests to venture out on their own.”

The trip also includes nine days where guests can relax or explore at their leisure, including stops at Inle Lake, Luang Prabang, Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City, and the itinerary concludes with three days on the beach at Koh Samet in Thailand.

A full itinerary for the Epic Multi-Country Program, including optional inclusions and exclusions, is now available via the Khiri Travel website. There is also a special price of US$4,030 for the travel trade.
