For the second year in a row, Internova Travel Group will be the headline sponsor for PROUD Experiences, the world’s leading lifestyle and luxury LGTBQ+ travel industry event, organized by RX (Reed Exhibitions), which takes place from 5-7 June in Los Angeles.

LGBTQ+ travelers are a growing segment within the travel and tourism industry, representing more than $218 billion worldwide pre-pandemic. Internova is one of the world’s largest travel services companies, and the more than 100,000 travel advisors it represents worldwide are rising to the challenge of creating experiences for this discerning group of travelers.

Albert Herrera, Internova’s Executive Vice President, Partner Relations, said: “Partnering with events like PROUD Experiences helps us better understand the LGBTQ+ traveler. It strengthens our relationships with travel suppliers; ensures that we are planning journeys to places where members of the LGBTQ+ community will be safe and welcomed; keeps us up to date on the newest, most exciting experiences and destinations around the world; and gives the travel advisors across all of our brands the support and tools they need to provide exceptional service to their clients.”

The sold-out gathering will feature more than 180 international, regional and local travel suppliers, including more than 60 new exhibitors, from seven continents. They range from brands such as 21c Museum Hotels, Six Senses and Small Luxury Hotels of the World to independent hotels like Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France, and many more. New destinations include Tahiti, Visit Buenos Aires and Santa Monica Tourism. Buyers from more than 10 countries will be at the event and take part in more than 30 one-on-one appointments.

Masterclasses, led by U.S.-based and international speakers, will cover a range of topics, including the effectiveness of authentic engagement with LGBTQ+ travelers and the importance of attracting, elevating and working with diverse voices in an inclusive environment; all-women panels highlighting the necessity of creating safe and welcoming spaces in the culinary, wellness, and sporting worlds; establishing an LGBTQ+ strategy; helping suppliers create an inclusive LGBTQ+ welcome; and suggestions for buyers who want to develop LGBTQ+ business.

Discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression is an all-too-familiar reality for those in the LGBTQ+ community. PROUD Experiences brings together leaders from the travel and lifestyle sectors to network, share knowledge and do business. The event features engaging, interactive sessions and brings all of the debate about LGBTQ+ travel to the table.

“This will be the largest gathering of industry professionals meeting to do business together in support of the LGBTQ+ traveler, and we’re thrilled that Internova Travel Group is joining us once again as headline sponsor,” said Simon Mayle, PROUD Experiences Event Director. “LGBTQ+ adults are leading the way in post-pandemic travel, and Internova travel advisors are vital partners in helping to meet their needs.”

Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the travel and tourism event for inbound and outbound tourism professionals throughout the Middle East, has announced that ‘Working Towards Net Zero’ will be its official theme for ATM 2023, which takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 1-4 May.

RX (Reed Exhibitions), the organiser of ATM, will celebrate its 30th annual event by unveiling a dedicated sustainability pledge, not only to make the ATM 2023 event more sustainable but to announce 30 long-term goals as ATM works towards net zero in line with the RX Global pledge. Danielle Curtis, exhibition director, Arabian Travel Market, said: “If the UAE and the wider Middle East are to achieve their net zero ambitions, the travel and tourism industry will play a vital role, given its share of regional economic activity and of course its growth potential.

“With COP27 being held in Sharm El Sheikh this year and COP28 in Dubai in 2023, it is essential that hotels, airlines, leisure resorts and all associated companies start to put their sustainability strategies in place. While unveiling our strategic path to net zero, ATM 2023 will also provide an ideal platform for industry players to engage with sustainability experts and their peers to address the challenges of achieving net zero.”

According to a World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) report, travel and tourism account for between 8-11% of the world’s emissions. It also revealed that 42% of the travel and tourism businesses analysed currently have publicly announced climate targets, 61% of travellers say they want to travel more sustainably in the future and over 80% of travellers plan to prioritise sustainability in their travels in the coming year.

“Compounding the challenges of reaching net zero, travel activity is expected to soar by 85% from 2016 to 2030,” added Curtis. ATM 2023 will offer global travel trade professionals a vision of how the travel and tourism industry will look in the coming years by sharing new and insightful commentary from experts from around the world, creating significant business opportunities over the course of the four-day event.

Simon Mayle, event director, ILTM North America commented: “After 10 years in Mayakoba, the continued growth and success of ILTM North America has meant that we have had to find an alternative host venue which can offer the same kind of special magic we have at Mayakoba.  Baha Mar offers exactly this: comfortable infrastructure, rooms, restaurants and networking spaces all in a resort location in addition to the fact that the airlift from across the US and Europe continues to be exceptional.”

ILTM North America was introduced as a solution to creating strong partnerships and networks amongst the top producing luxury travel community in a resort at one with the natural environment.  In taking this ‘sense of place’ that has defined the event for the last ten years to its new home, Baha Mar will bring a sense of scale as well as authenticity to ILTM North America’s new home.

‘It is an honor to be the host destination for ILTM North America next year and beyond. This sought-after event brings the best of the travel industry together for a dynamic week of educational sessions, networking and events,” says Graeme Davis, president of Baha Mar. “We look forward to introducing our new guests to the luxury of choice experiences our world class brands of Rosewood, SLS and Grand Hyatt Baha Mar have to offer. Hotel demand across the majority of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) markets is expected to achieve parity with 2019 levels of performance in 2022. This was revealed in the latest industry forecast from Colliers International, commissioned by RX (Reed Exhibitions), the organiser of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2022.

With year-on-year upticks anticipated across most MENA markets, the report spells excellent news for panelists and attendees at ATM Hotel Industry Summit. The event will take place during ATM at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 8-11 May. Several regional markets are set to achieve hotel occupancy rates of 70 per cent or above in 2022, including parts of Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Cairo and Doha.

While corporate demand, including meetings, incentives, conferences and events, bolstered the MENA hotel industry’s initial post-pandemic recovery, the Colliers report notes that the region’s domestic and leisure segments are likely to take on an increasingly important role in 2022. In addition, the researchers predict that mega events, such as Expo 2020 Dubai and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, will not only drive a major influx in demand for their hosts, but are also likely to deliver a beneficial ‘halo effect’ for surrounding markets.

Danielle Curtis, exhibition director, Middle East, for Reed, said: “With the MENA travel and tourism sector’s recovery now in full swing, we expect ATM 2022 to be even busier. A range of big hitters from the hotel sector have already confirmed they will be attending, including Jumeirah International; Atlantis, the Palm; Marriott Hotels International; JA Resorts & Hotels; Steinberger Hotels; Minor Hotel Group; Best Weston International; and many more. And there’s still six months to go until the main event.”

The Colliers research notes that consistent government backing for tourism and travel throughout the pandemic has been – and will continue to represent – a key factor in the sector’s recovery. Domestic-focused initiatives, which supported regional hotels during heightened travel restrictions, are expected to result in ongoing improvements for markets such as Ras Al Khaimah, UAE and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Reed Exhibitions (RX), the organiser behind International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) has confirmed that its live event is back for 2021. The first international face to face meeting of the golf travel industry for the past two years.

Scheduled to take place from 18-21 October 2021 at Celtic Manor in Wales, it is also the first time the event has been held in the UK. Designed to kickstart the business opportunities for this leisure sector post COVID-19, golf tourism is poised to grow by USD 5.36 billion from 2020-2024.

David Todd, event manager of IGTM said: “We’re delighted to announce the return of IGTM that we know so many businesses rely on at such a crucial time to help support the bounce back of the golf tourism industry. We have been working closely with our venue partner, the ICC Wales to ensure a safe live event and are looking forward to welcoming the community once again – this is an industry that is a real revenue generator for golf facilities and hosts millions of leisure travellers worldwide, so we look forward to connecting everyone again.”

There are already more than 135 tour operators, travel agents, concierge companies and event planners confirmed from 28 countries including Golfbreaks (UK), Leadingcourses.com (Netherlands) and Women on Fairways (US), with numbers increasing every day. They will meet with similar numbers of the world’s top golf courses, resorts, hotels, tourist boards and DMCs – and delighted to announce the latest confirmed exhibitor is The PGA with 10 of its partner properties will be participating too.

Exhibitors, buyers, and media will join forces for 4 days of pre-scheduled appointments, networking, and the IGTM annual golf tournament.

Host venue to IGTM 2021, ICC Wales, chief executive Ian Edwards said: “We are very much looking forward to hosting this much-anticipated event in October, as part of what we hope will be a successful resumption of the meetings industry during the second half of the year. We have been working tirelessly with industry partners and the Welsh Government to ensure we have robust safety protocols in place to facilitate the safe return of conventions of the size and scope of IGTM, and we cannot wait to see delegates coming back to our exceptional meeting spaces. We will continue to be guided by the latest medical advice and Welsh Government guidance, but the pilot events conducted across the UK as part of the Event Research programme demonstrated what we have long advocated – that the events industry is uniquely well placed to reopen safely, and their organised nature means compliance with procedures like Test and Trace is already built into standard practices.”

The post Middle East spend on leisure travel to exceed pre-COVID levels by 10% in 2024 appeared first on TD (Travel Daily Media) Brand TD.

According to a recent YouGov survey, commissioned by Reed Exhibitions, the organiser of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2021, the amount of money that Middle East travellers spend on international leisure travel, will begin to exceed 2019 pre-COVID levels, in as little as three years. This is supported by forecast analysis carried out by Tourism Economics (TE).

“This is very encouraging,” said Danielle Curtis, exhibition director of ME in ATM, which will take place in-person at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on 16-19 May 2021.

“In 2019, spending on international leisure travel in the Middle East was significant, representing 47% of the total overall travel spend, compared with 37% spent on domestic leisure travel and 8% each on international and domestic business travel. In 2020, spending on international leisure travel was only 20% of the amount spent a year earlier. However, this year, spending compared with 2019, will recover to around 50%. It will increase to 75% in 2022 and 95% in 2023, until 2024, when spending in this segment will exceed pre-COVID levels by up to 10%,” added Curtis.

According to research by TE and its parent company Oxford Economics, the vaccine rollout, pent up demand supported by high consumer savings, employment recovery and travel restrictions, will motivate the return to global economic growth of 5.6% this year, the fastest economic recovery in 40 years. The total contribution of the travel and tourism industry in 2019 accounted for 10.4% of total GDP worldwide, highlighting its importance to the global economy.

In advanced economies, household savings rates have jumped from less than 10% of income prior to 2020, to a spike of 25% during lockdown, before dropping to just over 15% as restrictions were eased.

In terms of vaccine rollout, although distribution maybe uneven and therefore inhibit some destinations from welcoming tourists, many popular leisure destinations such as the UAE, US, UK, Israel, Spain and Turkey aim to have up to 70% of their populations vaccinated before the end of 2021. Other measures will be necessary and are likely to be introduced in many destinations to facilitate travel recovery, such as more widespread testing.

“Leisure travel will lead the recovery, initially through domestic and short-haul travel, which peaked by as much as 85% of all overnight arrivals in the Middle East during 2020. This will gradually return to normal over the next four years at around 70%, as international travel becomes more popular and takes greater market share,” said Curtis.

In addition to our international participation, a whole host of exhibitors from the Middle East will be participating at ATM this year, including the tourism boards from the UAE’s emirates with major exhibits from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Fujairah. There will also be a variety of other ME exhibitors including Emirates, Etihad Airways, Saudi Tourism Authority, Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, SAUDIA, Jordan Tourism Board, Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, NEOM, Emaar Hospitality Group and Jumeirah International, amongst others.

The latest data analysis produced by YouGov for Reed Exhibitions, the organiser of Arabian Travel Market (ATM), has revealed that 46% of luxury travellers in the Middle East, are planning to travel internationally at some stage during 2021.

The survey also asked the same recipients if they were planning to take a domestic holiday or staycation during 2021 and more than half (52%) of the respondents confirmed that they would. Furthermore, 25% of respondents were planning to make a business trip, either domestically or internationally and 4% of respondents had no plans to travel anywhere in 2021.

YouGov, which defines luxury travellers as those who tend to fly business or first-class and stay at five-star accommodations, also asked luxury travellers in the Middle East about their frequency of travel – 31% of respondents said they planned to travel twice over the next 12 months and 25% confirmed they were planning on making at least one overseas trip.

Danielle Curtis, exhibition director in Middle East at ATM, which will take place live at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 16-19 May 2021, said: “Luxury travellers from the Middle East are more likely to travel with their children, compared with those from other regions (40% versus 36%). And when you add that fact to their planned frequency of travel, it makes the Middle East’s outbound luxury travel sector, one of the most sought after globally.”

According to the survey, Middle East luxury travellers are keen on destinations with outstanding natural beauty (34%), beach holidays (34%), conducive climate (29%) and connectivity (28%). The survey also uncovered that luxury travellers in the Middle East are most concerned about health risks of travelling (43%) and safety (35%). However, one in three respondents also said that the actual price and that it represented good value for money was still very important.

Luxury is an integral part of ATM and has its own dedicated show, ILTM Arabia, which is co-located with ATM and scheduled to take place from 17-18 May. This two-day event provides each exhibitor with up to 40 fifteen-minute meetings with experienced luxury tour operators from across the Middle East.
