Thai AirAsia to fly Kunming-Bangkok

Thai AirAsia is adding a route from Bangkok to Kunming, Yunnan province on 15 November, it has been announced.
The service is the second flight from the capital of Yunnan to an ASEAN country following the introduction of the Kunming-Kuala Lumpur route in December 2012.
Thai Airasia will use an Airbus A320 to operate the daily service, which will accommodate 180 passengers and last around 2 hours and 45 minutes. The flight will depart Bangkok at 9:00am, landing in Kunming at 13:20.
Tassapon Bijleveld, Thai Airasia CEO, has confidence in the huge potential of the new service: “It will play a positive role in the development of economics, trade and tourism between Kunming and Bangkok, and also between China and Thailand,” he explained.
By June 2013, AirAsia group,will operate 314 flights per week on 29 routes to 15 destinations in the Greater China region. The number of passengers carrier has exceeded 17 million.
At present, AirAsia’s services to China are all in growth phases, with average passenger load factor of 80%. The Chinese market contributes around 19% to the group’s total revenue.
