Thai Airways International (THAI) will launch its first direct flights to the Japanese city of Sendai next week.
Commencing on 3 December 2013, the Bangkok-based national carrier will operate three weekly flights to Sendai, in northeast Japan, with flights departing every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The return flight will leave Sendai the following day.
“The Japanese market is a major revenue-making market for THAI, which is reason for THAI to expand to serve new destinations in Japan such as Sendai,” said Chokchai Panyayong, senior executive vice president of THAI’s commercial department. “THAI is pleased to serve Sendai and fly to all regions in Japan, as well as support increasing demand for travel to more parts of Japan.”
THAI will operate the Sendai route using a 299-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft equipped with 26 seats in business class and 263 in economy.
Sendai, which is home to more than one million people, will become THAI’s seventh destination in Japan, following Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and Sapporo. The new route also boosts the airline’s total operations in Japan to 76 weekly flights.
