Thai Airways International will issue up to one billion new shares in an effort to raise THB10 billion (US$303 million), the Bangkok Post has reported. The new shares will be offered both to the public and Thailand’s Finance Ministry, which will maintain its 51.03% holding in the national carrier. THAI President, Piyasvasti Amranand, was reported saying that the proceeds from the share sale would be used to manage liquidity, future aircraft investment, strengthen THAI’s capital base, and repay debts.
