THAI unveils A380 products
Thai Airways International (THAI) has unveiled the cabin products being offered onboard its new fleet of Airbus A380s.
At an event in Bangkok this week, THAI revealed that its A380s will be configured with 507 seats in three classes: 12 in Royal First Class, 60 in Royal Silk and 435 in economy. This will be the layout for all six of the airline’s A380s, the first of which will be delivered to the airline on 27 September.
The Royal First class cabin will feature 12 seats that recline 180 degrees, have an 83-inch (211cm) pitch, 26.5-inch width and what THAI called a “semi-privacy conventional configuration”. Seats will also have Panasonic’s ex2 in-flight entertainment system with a 23-inch personal screen offering 100 movies, 150 television programmes, 500 music albums and 60 games. Passengers will also be offered Wi-Fi and mobile phone connectivity and electrical power sockets. The first class cabin also features an onboard lounge, bar and dressing room.
THAI’s business class, Royal Silk, will be equipped with 60 seats that recline 180 degrees, have a 74-inch pitch and 20-inch width, in a staggered configuration. Seats also have the same in-flight entertainment options with a 15-inch screen, and Wi-Fi connectivity and electronic plugs.
Finally in economy class, the 435 seats will have a 32-inch pitch and 18-inch seat width, with a 10.6-inch personal screen and all the connectivity of first and business classes.
THAI will receive a total of six Airbus A380 aircraft. Following next month’s inaugural delivery the next three are due to arrive this winter, and the final two in 2013. THAI’s first Airbus A380 will operate on the Bangkok-Hong Kong and Bangkok-Singapore routes from 6 October 2012. The second will fly between Bangkok and Frankfurt from December, then in January more A380s will be deployed on routes to Tokyo Narita and Paris.
